How This Pumpkin Was Saved By A Local Business That Cares
As a local business, LAH Real Estate is committed to supporting local charities and non-profit organizations. We spoke with members of the LAH Real Estate team to find out more about the great things they are doing for Birmingham.
LAH Real Estate Year-Round Donations
At the start of each year, LAH Real Estate President Maurice Humphries sends out a company-wide email asking each of the company’s more than 200 agents to send all charities or nonprofits that are important to each individual agent. Throughout the year, LAH Real Estate supports each charity on the list. Wow!
“Our owners, managers and agents – everyone at LAH Real Estate – live and work here in Birmingham, so it’s important to us to give back to these organisations.”
Debbie White, Vice President of Operations, LAH Real Estate
Last year LAH Real Estate supported 56 local charities in the Birmingham area. Click here to see the full list.
One of the recipients of LAH Real Estate’s multiple donations is Underdog Rescue of Alabama, a nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing and caring for dogs and cats.
“Pumpkin is a dog whose life has been changed thanks to donations from LAH Real Estate. Sweet Pumpkin was turned over to a rural animal shelter in Alabama, and due to overcrowding, she was placed on their euthanasia list. Thanks to donations from LAH Real Estate, Underdog Rescue of Alabama was able to get Pumpkin out of the shelter the day before he was euthanized. Pumpkin has since been adopted and is a much-loved family member who wears pajamas, watches TV.

Central Alabama Community Food Bank
During the holiday season, LAH Real Estate focuses on two major charities: the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama and the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation.
From early November until just before Thanksgiving, LAH Real Estate offices hold a friendly competition to see who can collect the most food for the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama Food Drive.
“I don’t know if you know this or not, but real estate agents are competitive by nature, so we’re always excited about the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama Food Drive. Our agents engage in friendly competition while collecting food for a good cause. It’s a win-win!
Debbie White, LAH Real Estate
Once the food drive is complete, the entire LAH Real Estate team meets at the Mountain Brook office to gather all the food in one place. Finally, several agents and brokers bring the food to the nearest central Alabama community food bank.
The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation
As soon as their fundraiser with the Community Food Bank of Alabama is complete, LAH Real Estate is focused on collecting new unboxed toys for the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. Launched in 1947 by the United States Marine Corp, the Toys for Tots collection distributes an average of 18 million toys to 7 million less fortunate children each year!
From mid-November through mid-December, members of all LAH Real Estate offices, along with their friends, family and community, drop off new and unopened toys for collection.
