Local women-led business, The Beauty Boost, aims to empower women through events, workshops and retreats
The Beauty Boost has spread beyond its Columbus roots to 17 different cities, with women across the country looking to make a difference in the lives of others.
The beauty boost is a company dedicated to connecting participants with opportunities in different cities that will help them feel more empowered, healthy and more beautiful, said Rachel Kerr, founder of the company. Kerr founded the company in 2015 in search of something more fulfilling than an office job. She said The Beauty Boost works with venues in Columbus and cities like Austin, Cincinnati and Louisville to deliver events for women in each city.
“Our mission is to help women feel empowered, healthy and beautiful through the various events and experiences that we organize,” said Kerr.
Kerr said each of its four types of events – weekend retreats, fitness events, empowerment workshops, and social events – serves a different purpose.
Weekend retreats include daily workouts and activities like hiking and paddleboarding, and Fitness Events offer workout classes at different locations. Empowerment workshops help women feel more connected to their passion and purpose and social events provide an opportunity to get out of the house through activities such as book clubs and clothing swaps, a said Kerr.
“It doesn’t matter what event people come to in these categories,” Kerr said. “They’re always going to be around the same type of people that we attract – kind, developing personally, with common goals and values.”
Kate Watson, brand ambassador for The Beauty Boost and a five-year member, said being part of the community has changed her life.
“The Beauty Boost inspires women who are looking for something more in their life,” Watson said. “Whether it’s more friendship, more health, more self-improvement, more happiness – just more.”
The Beauty Boost will host a “Taste of the fitness sampler” To Strongwater Food and Spirits November 14 at 9:30 am The event will consist of four consecutive workouts at various fitness studios, a health and wellness experience resort, and local businesses and vendors such as Jane + Willow shop and Oliver & Winn Candle Co.
“It’s a way to bring the fitness world together, not to compete,” Kerr said. “[It’s] to give people a taste of different workout styles, to try out new studios and shop locally, and to spotlight the small businesses that are in our community.
Watson said she was happy to be involved with The Beauty Boost as it offers a community based on friendship and support, as well as an environment for personal development, both of which are precious to her.
“I love to constantly try to improve myself in my life, and I’ve definitely gotten that out of my way since becoming a part of The Beauty Boost,” Watson said. “I can say my whole life has changed because of it. It had a very heavy impact, in the best possible way.
