Summer Bloomfield ‘foodie tour’ will visit 4 local restaurants

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Ready for a “foodie adventure” in the Bloomfield Center business district? Mark Saturday July 16 on your calendar.

The Bloomfield Center Alliance (BCA) is preparing for its first Food Tour of the summer, which will take place from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

According to organizers, the event will include a guided walking tour that will stop at four local restaurants: Bloomfield Steak & Seafood, Bucco, So Juicy! and 7 Doors Down Ramen Co.

The organizers said:

“The food-filled trek will begin at Bloomfield’s historic Lackwanna Station (corner of Glenwood and Lackwanna Place). A lively and knowledgeable guide will lead the tour with Bloomfield Center Alliance staff sharing information about the history of the area as well as updates on events and new developments within the Bloomfield Center.”

The food tour will provide guests with the opportunity to connect with chefs and owners and enjoy a “one-of-a-kind culinary experience,” the BCA said.

“We’ve been hosting Bloomfield Center Food Tours since 2019 and the energy we get from Bloomfield Center attendees and restaurateurs is nothing short of amazing,” said BCA Director Ollyn Lettman.

“We have two new restaurants joining this month’s tour, and we’re excited for people to get to know them,” Lettman added.

7 Doors Down, one of these new stops, is a ramen shop that combines Peruvian and Japanese flavors.

“We want to show Bloomfield and our diners a new experience – a blend of two cultures that many people weren’t aware of,” said chef Luis Blasini-Sinchi.

“The food we provide is a representation of ourselves: it’s simple, straightforward and tantalizing,” Blasini-Sinchi said. “The restaurant is an open kitchen concept, we don’t try to hide anything, what you see is what you get with us. There is no hidden curtain.”

Registration for the food tour can be done online here; tickets are $30. On the day of the tour, registrants will receive a wristband giving access to the group tour and food samples.

The Food Tour is one of many events featuring Bloomfield Center this summer. “Dining Under the Stars,” a popular outdoor dining event with live entertainment, which takes place on Washington Street, has already started and will run through mid-October. The same goes for ‘Cruise Night Car Shows’, bringing classic cars and cool tunes to Broad Street until the end of July.

The above BCA programs rely in part on corporate partners, including the Clara Maass Medical Center, which is the main sponsor of the downtown food tours, organizers said.
