Lettuce Be Loco

With Loco, short for Loudoun County, in the name, you’re sure to find the most authentic local cuisine at this new salad restaurant. Lettuce Be Loco opened in late 2021 with plans to serve quick and casual salads and cereal bowls using local ingredients. The restaurant partners with various local farms, such as Lydia’s Fields and Chilly Hollow, to offer customers an assortment of salads that change with the seasons. 208 Church Street SE, Leesburg

Plaka grill

CAVA has become the sensation it is because sometimes all you need is a refreshing Greek salad to get your day going. However, if you want to support a local small business that brings you even more Mediterranean authenticity, Plaka Grill is the place to go. Established in 2007, this friendly spot offers a variety of salads and bowls of rice and green vegetables topped with authentic Greek specialties. Gluten-free, vegetarian or vegan? You don’t have to worry here. Poppyseed Rye is an artisan sandwich and fresh flower cafe that also offers outstanding salads made for all diets. With four of their gluten-free salads, including two vegetarian and even one vegan, you’re sure to find one to suit your preference. These days, it seems like there are endless chain restaurants based on the “make your own bowl” approach. While most of these restaurants lean towards Mediterranean and Mexican cuisines, one local DC restaurant chose to introduce a new cuisine into the mix: Indian. RASA is a DMV-based restaurant owned by two best friends who hope to make Indian cuisine more accessible to those unfamiliar.
